Who will benefit from a travel health consultation?
Preparing for your appointment
- Collection and assessment of all your relevant medical history as well as your past, present and future travel plans
- Personalized recommendations for the vaccinations and medications required for your trip
- Assessments and recommended prescriptions for the prevention of malaria, traveler’s diarrhea and altitude illness
- Administration of vaccines required for your itinerary
- Advice on managing your medical conditions and treatments while traveling
- Advice on safety and other health concerns in the countries you will be visiting
- Detailed record of your visit for you and your family physician
- Vaccination record book
- Reminder calls when vaccine booster doses are due
- On-site selection of insect repellants, sunscreens and other travel needs
Any person traveling will benefit from this service by reducing their risk of illness abroad. Some people traveling may have specific needs which we can address during a consultation. These might include:

We recommend that you have your consultation at least 6-8 weeks prior to your departure date to ensure there is time to receive all vaccination doses that you will require. If you have last minute travel plans, we can still help. Please make an appointment so we can help you prepare as adequately as possible.
Once you have booked an appointment, you will be asked to fill out a Pre-Travel Screening Form. This will take approximately 15 minutes. It can be emailed to you directly or found on our website. Completion of this form prior to your appointment will allow us to spend more or your appointment time discussing your health and wellbeing.
Please bring the following to your appointment:
- A detailed itinerary for your trip including any layovers, airline stops, locations and accommodation types within your destination countries
- Provincial Health Card
- Third Party Health Insurance plan
- Any records of your immunization history
- Current medication list
